It is available all over the country, but the khoya of Pretshila of Korma village located in Gaya, Bihar is quite famous. There are 10-12 hotels near Pretshila, where pure Khowa is manufactured.

Let us tell you that Pretshila is an important place for Hinduism from the religious point of view and here people who have died of premature death are offered pinddaan. Devotees who come to offer Pinddaan are prohibited from eating salty food. Due to which there is a high demand for khova here.

People coming for Pind Daan consume Khowa

It has been years that Pinddani keeps coming and going from every corner of the country at Pretshila. Here khova is prepared on a large scale in nearby hotels. On normal days, 50-60 kg of Khowa is sold here daily, while more than one quintal is consumed during Pitrupaksha Mela.

On the other hand, Pinddani who come from other states consume Khowa. At the same time, they buy half kg, 1 kg or 5 kg from here as Prasad and take it to their homes. Here Khowa is sold at Rs 400 per kg.

Pindadan is done with Khowa in Akshaya Vat

Hotel director Dilip Kumar Chandravanshi says that Pretshila’s khova is very famous and the Pinddani who come here to perform Shradh also eat khova and take it with them as prasad. In Gaya’s Akshay Vat, there is importance of offering Pind Daan with Khowa and all those who come to Pretshila to donate Pind Daan buy Khowa and take it with them. There are about 10 to 12 hotels here where 10 to 15 kg khova is prepared daily. The shopkeepers here buy milk from rural areas and prepare khova from milk daily.
